Man drives 140km across Spain without realising he left his 10-year-old at a petrol station

A Spanish father recently made headlines after driving 140 kilometres across Spain without realizing he left his 10-year-old son at a petrol station. The incident occurred near Aldea del Cano, Cáceres, on Sunday evening when the father, his friend, and his seven-year-old brother stopped for fuel. The young boy got out of the car during the stop but did not return to it before the others drove away.

CCTV footage confirmed the boy had exited the vehicle, and he remained at the service station, unaware that he was no longer with his family. The Guardia Civil was alerted to the situation and took charge of the child. Officers used the central 062 service to track the car's journey north along the A-66, leading to its discovery near Hervás, more than 140 kilometres from the petrol station, around two and a half hours after the initial stop.

The boy, who had been left behind, was safely reunited with his relatives, and no injuries or criminal proceedings were reported. The Guardia Civil emphasized the importance of checking all passengers before departing, particularly when traveling with children, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
