Malaysia needs to cultivate 'cognitive agility' in schools, according to high-achieving Murad Zaidi. Speaking to reporters, the skilled Murad emphasized the importance of honing skills like attention control, emotional management, critical thinking, sleep and recovery, physical agility, and the ability to face adversity without immediately seeking solutions.

To achieve this, he said, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council, National Sport Institute, universities, employers, and corporate entities must all be involved, as stated in a statement. He noted the urgency of this need as society grapples with persistent digital disruption, including short-form content and competing platforms vying for user attention.

Murad argued that today's youth should not be solely blamed for struggling to maintain focus due to their upbringing in a tech-dominated environment. "Our young people are not born weak. They are trained daily by platforms competing for their attention," he said. The high achiever also touched on the widespread access to artificial intelligence (AI) for 100,000 young Malaysians, stating that while AI can enhance the productivity of disciplined individuals, it may also make those who lack thinking skills overly dependent on technology.

"AI can make disciplined young people more productive, and make the lazy thinkers more reliant," Murad explained. Therefore, he said, young people need to be taught to question and verify information, and to make their own judgments without offloading the entire thinking process to technology.
