Main opposition slams Lee's Cabinet reshuffle over key ministerial picks

The main opposition People Power Party (PPP) has launched a scathing attack on President Lee Jae Myung's latest Cabinet reshuffle. The PPP contends that the president is prioritizing his own political ambitions over the betterment of citizens' well-being. On Sunday, Lee made six ministerial appointments, which the opposition views as a blatant rebuff to public calls for reform.

PPP floor leader Jeong Jeom-sig declared during a party council meeting at the National Assembly, "This reshuffle is President Lee's clear message that he is rejecting all public demands for an overhaul of state affairs." He specifically criticized the choice of Kim Seung-won, a representative of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), to become the new justice minister. Jeong contends that this appointment is designed to weaken criminal charges against Lee himself.

Additionally, PPP Rep. Shin Dong-wook echoed the criticism, stating that President Lee's objectives appear to be bolstering his approval ratings rather than addressing critical issues like people's livelihoods and economic growth. The opposition party's stance highlights their deep dissatisfaction with the president's latest Cabinet changes.
