Maharashtra Mandates CCTV Recording Of Assistant Professor Interviews To Ensure Transparent Recruitment

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has introduced new guidelines to enhance transparency and fairness in the recruitment process for assistant professors in non-government aided senior colleges. These guidelines, issued by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, aim to make the recruitment process rule-based and merit-focused.

Colleges must now record the entire interview process using CCTV cameras and publish the final selection list on their websites. The guidelines cover the entire recruitment process, from advertisement approval to final selection. Universities will scrutinise advertisements for correctness before they can be published in national and state-level newspapers.

Online applications are mandatory, but offline applications will also be accepted. Shortlisting will follow UGC criteria and reservation policies. Selection committees will be constituted following UGC norms and government resolutions. The interview process must adhere to UGC rules, and the final selection list must be published online after university verification.

CCTV recording will be mandatory for the entire interview process, with recordings preserved for at least a year or until any related proceedings conclude. Violations could result in strict action against institutions and individuals found accountable.
