(LEAD) S. Korea, U.S. discuss energy cooperation amid heightened uncertainty

In a meeting held in Seoul, South Korea's Second Vice Climate Minister Lee Ho-hyeon and his U.S. counterpart, acting Assistant Secretary Curt Coccodrilli, discussed measures to bolster bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, according to the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. The officials aimed to ensure stable energy supply chains and power supplies, which are crucial for a country's industrial competitiveness, Lee said.

The discussion also encompassed key energy security issues that necessitate a joint response, such as safeguarding power grids amidst rapidly increasing electricity demand and expanding energy storage systems. Lee expressed confidence that the meeting would enable the two nations to collectively tackle growing market uncertainties and enhance their energy cooperation.
