Keralam has to focus on high-tech industries to reverse migration, says Vice-President

Kerala's Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan has emphasized the need for the state to focus on high-tech industries to stimulate job creation and facilitate the reversal of migration. Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Radhakrishnan argued that Keralam possesses the necessary natural resources to attract high-tech companies, thereby enabling the state to stop the flow of people leaving for better opportunities elsewhere.

He highlighted the scarcity of land in Kerala, which poses a challenge to traditional industries due to the high cost of land. Radhakrishnan stressed that education should not merely be about rote learning or earning certificates, but rather should be focused on understanding the needs of society and the market, rather than simply churning out graduates.

He noted that the past 12 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership have seen significant expansion in higher education in the country, with the establishment of new institutions such as 16 Indian Institutes of Information Technology, 8 Indian Institutes of Management, 7 Indian Institutes of Technology, and 12 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences.

Radhakrishnan also expressed confidence that Kerala would soon receive one AIIMS. The Vice-President encouraged the youth to steer clear of drugs and to utilize their talents for the betterment of themselves, society, and humanity. He inaugurated 'Confluence 3.0', an industry-academia summit focused on 'India, Impact of AI'.
