Emily Hart, who has visited all 50 states and many major US tourist attractions, has shared her thoughts on some of the overrated sites in the United States. Firstly, she suggests avoiding the Las Vegas Strip, stating that, although visually striking, its artificiality makes it a top contender for overrated tourist destinations. Hart has enjoyed the surrounding areas, however, such as Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The Four Corners Monument, where travelers can stand in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico all at once, is another site Hart finds overrated. While it's a fun photo opportunity, there isn't much more to do in the area. Hart prefers visiting the nearby Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, known for its stunning sandstone buttes.

Black Hills Region in South Dakota, home to Mount Rushmore, is another spot on Hart's list. Although impressive, she recommends planning a trip around the region as Mount Rushmore alone doesn't offer much to do. Hart would also prefer visiting Frenchmen Street over Bourbon Street in New Orleans, as she finds the latter too crowded and not representative of the city's culture.

Times Square in New York City also appears on Hart's list of overrated tourist attractions. Although iconic, she prefers spending time in smaller neighborhoods or alternative experiences such as The High Line or Little Island. Similarly, she suggests avoiding Key West's Southernmost Point in Florida, as the lengthy line for photos detracts from the overall experience.

Lastly, Hart advises against visiting Salem, Massachusetts, in October. While the city is well-known for its historical significance, the tourist influx during that time makes it difficult to appreciate the unique aspects of the city. She advises spooky-season enthusiasts to plan their visit outside of October.
