Intuit and Perplexity Team on AI Integrations

Intuit, the creator of QuickBooks and Mailchimp, has announced a collaboration with AI startup Perplexity to integrate their software into Perplexity Computer, an agentic AI assistant. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between finding answers and taking decisive action, according to Intuit Chief Technology Officer Alex Balazs. By combining Perplexity's AI platform with Intuit's rich data and domain expertise, customers will be able to perform complex tasks and successfully run and grow their businesses.

The integration utilizes model context protocol (MCP) connectors, allowing customers to access Intuit's business systems within the Perplexity workflow. This enables business owners to manage cash flow, retrieve employee information, and run marketing campaigns directly from the Perplexity interface. Key functions include following up on overdue invoices, setting up recurring billing, distributing payment links, retrieving pay slips, accessing employee payroll information, and tracking campaign performance.

Dmitry Shevelenko, Perplexity's chief business officer, stated that the integration empowers businesses to go from research and answers to securely executing financial actions.

The collaboration follows reports that Nvidia was in talks to invest billions of dollars in Perplexity, potentially valuing the company at over $30 billion. Perplexity's annualized revenue had grown to more than $750 million from less than $250 million at the start of the year, partly due to Perplexity Computer. Additionally, PYMNTS highlighted the impact of agentic AI on corporate treasury departments, noting that AI agents are increasingly handling core treasury functions autonomously.
