Ingonga calls for stronger African prosecution cooperation to fight cross-border crime

Nairobi, Kenya: African countries must bolster prosecutorial collaboration to effectively combat cross-border and emerging crimes, according to Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga, the President of the Africa Prosecutors Association (APA). Speaking at the APA Strategic Committee Meeting in Nairobi, Ingonga emphasized the need for deeper cooperation and stronger institutions as African nations grapple with crimes that now extend beyond national borders.

The meeting, which convened technical experts from member states, aimed to explore the APA's future direction and institutional growth. Ingonga highlighted this moment as crucial for the Association, urging members to reflect on their progress and collectively determine the next steps for the body. He advocated for a continent-wide approach to tackle transnational and emerging crimes, alongside enhancements within national prosecution systems.
