A shocking video appears to show a bunkhouse floating downriver with debris after flash flooding ripped through Bright Angel Canyon.
A video has surfaced showing a bunkhouse floating downriver with debris following flash flooding in Bright Angel Canyon of the Grand Canyon. Matt Van Swol shared the video on X, expressing disbelief at the horrifying footage. As of now, 62 people have been evacuated, with 15 still unaccounted for after the flooding in Arizona. The National Park Service is working with authorities to rescue those in danger and locate the missing.
The flash flood began on Saturday, August 29th, and was triggered by heavy rainfall on the Kaibab Plateau. Officials warned that additional thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could occur through Monday, potentially causing further flooding and hazards. Damage to a key water pipeline and a ban on wood and charcoal fires have been implemented due to the flooding. Overnight accommodations in some areas may close as the park remains open for day use.
