Goa nightclub fire case: SC upholds HC order cancelling bail of club owners

On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to overturn the Bombay High Court's decision to dismiss bail for the owners of a nightclub in Goa. The order followed a fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in North Goa's Arpora area on December 6, 2025, which left 25 people dead and over 50 injured. The top court instructed the trio to surrender to authorities within two weeks and urged the lower court to accelerate the trial proceedings.

The Luthra brothers, along with Gupta, were co-owners of M/s Being GS Hospitality Arpora LLP, which operated the nightclub. The high court had criticized the trial court for not thoroughly examining the evidence collected during the investigation and for incorrectly categorizing the offense as less severe than murder or dacoity.

The accused were accused of knowingly conducting fire displays inside the facility without proper safety measures.
