Fisher Catholic launches new cross country tradition

Fisher Catholic High School held its inaugural Emerald Invitational cross country meet on Tuesday, August 25, at St. Mary’s Emerald Campus, kicking off a new tradition for the region. The event featured seven high school teams and seven junior high teams competing in a 2-mile varsity race and a 1.5-mile junior high race. Additionally, an 800-meter elementary fun run was held for students in grades two through six.

The meet was organized by Kevin Crabtree, a Fisher Catholic parent and volunteer whose family has deep Irish roots, with assistance from Doug Reed and the school’s cross-country community. Fisher Catholic’s teams placed second in both the boys and girls high school races, while the girls and boys Irish teams excelled at the Newark Catholic Invitational, finishing fourth and ninth out of 16 teams, respectively.
