FBR Orders Officers to Reveal Foreign Citizenships, Passports and Marriages

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has demanded that its staff and employees provide information about any foreign citizenship, passports, travel documents, and marriages to foreign nationals. The deadline for submitting these declarations, which was 90 days ago on August 30, has passed. Officials who have not yet complied are being asked to submit their information as soon as possible.

FBR has instructed all officers to disclose any foreign passport or travel document they possess. Additionally, those married to foreign nationals must provide details of their marriages. Completed forms should be sent via email to the relevant Management Wing secretaries. FBR has threatened disciplinary action for non-compliance, viewing it as either misconduct under civil service rules or a violation of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules of 2020 if false information is provided.

The tax authority has instructed all relevant officials to ensure adherence to these directives. This requirement applies to both Customs and Inland Revenue staff, who are requested to submit a declaration covering their own foreign citizenship and that of their family members.
