Fare for togstreik

The ongoing strike, known as "togstreik," involves negotiations between Vy Tog, representing employees, and Spekter, representing employers. If no agreement is reached, a strike is set to begin on Wednesday morning. Initially, 132 Vy employees and three Flytoget employees will be affected. Vy warns that the RE10 train line from Drammen to Lillehammer will be severely impacted, with few or no trains between Eidsvoll and Lillehammer.

Some train schedules on other lines may also be suspended, according to Vy's press release. While Vy aims to reach an agreement and avoid the strike, Vy Tog CEO Erik Røhne expressed concern about the potential severe impact on customers, particularly those north of Eidsvoll. Flytoget predicts no disruptions in the first wave of strikes.

The Norwegian Railway Union leads the largest strike, representing 82 members, while the Norwegian Train Conductors' Union plans a 47-member strike. Vy and Flytoget have each warned of strikes involving 47 and 6 members, respectively. The unions seek predictability in members' personal time and family lives, as per Torfinn Håverstad, the leader of the Norwegian Railway Union.

Earlier this year, the union reached an agreement with Vy, but it was rejected by members. Vy's union leader, Rolf Ringdal, fears that combining Vy and Flytoget may lead to disparate treatment. The union demands equal pay for locomotive engineers performing similar jobs. The third union, Delta, has also warned of a six-member strike.

Delta and Vy's union leader, Trond Ellefsen, expressed readiness for strike action if necessary, stating that they acknowledge the need for adjustments but insist that employees must be heard in the process.
