Djokovic stunned in US Open first round

Novak Djokovic's quest for his 25th Grand Slam title was abruptly ended in a surprising 7-6(5), 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 loss to unseeded Argentine Mariano Navone in a grueling first-round match on Sunday. The 39-year-old Serbian arrived at the Grand Slam with concerns over his form and fitness following a recent loss to Thiago Agustin Tirante in Cincinnati.

Djokovic dominated the first set, leading 3-0, but Navone equalized at 4-4 after a brief delay when the roof of the main court was closed due to rain at Flushing Meadows. Despite the Serb's discomfort, Navone pushed the match into a tiebreak and emerged victorious. Djokovic fought back to win the second set, overcoming a momentary setback when he vomited into a courtside bin during the third set.

He briefly led by 5-4 but Navone's resilience prevailed, as the Argentine clinched the fourth set and ultimately won the match in four hours and 36 minutes.
