Tesla CEO Elon Musk is set to unveil the Cybercab at a special event in Austin on September 3, as part of the company's broader autonomous transportation push. The invite-only gathering will showcase the Cybercab and provide a livestream for those unable to attend in person. Tesla's Robotaxi rider sweepstakes will have selected attendees, while the rest follow the launch remotely.

The Cybercab concept was first introduced at the We, Robot event in October 2024 at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, and production reportedly began at Gigafactory Texas in February 2026. Tesla's Austin Robotaxi service, using modified Model Y vehicles with self-driving software (FSD), has logged over 380,000 unsupervised miles without significant incidents.

The Sept. 3 event aims to demonstrate Tesla's progress in turning autonomous-driving ambitions into a scalable business, which could be crucial for the company's stock performance.
