Coronation Art Gallery Opens The Value of Belief to Resounding Acclaim

Coronation Art Gallery unveiled its most ambitious exhibition, "The Value of Belief: Collectors, Conviction and the Making of Cultural Futures," at its official opening last night in Lagos. The event, held at Coronation Plaza, Victoria Island, brought together high-profile guests including senior executives, business leaders, collectors, artists, and media representatives.

The exhibition features works from the private collections of Nigerian collector-patrons Kayode Adegbola, Kola Aina, and Seyi Ajibola, whose decades of deliberate, conviction-led collecting have significantly influenced the contemporary Nigerian art landscape. Their investments extend beyond the artworks themselves, supporting artists, communities, and cultural infrastructure that foster African creativity.

The Value of Belief exhibition highlights the shared belief in human potential between serious collectors and sound, long-term investors, positioning patronage and financial stewardship as expressions of the same conviction. Managing Partner of Coronation Capital, Kayode Akindele, emphasized the importance of such spaces, stating that the conversations between collectors, artists, clients, and executives could only take place in a setting like this.

The opening is the first in a three-month series of events, including private viewings for clients, a curated tour for university students, and a closing webinar with the curator and featured collectors, all running through November 2026. Coronation Art Gallery, established to preserve African artistic creation, promote research, education, and appreciation of art, and to leverage its collection as a storytelling, investing, and legacy-building tool, has welcomed numerous distinguished figures from various sectors.
