CenterPoint activates emergency center for weather system

HOUSTON - CenterPoint Energy has activated its Emergency Operations Center in anticipation of weather system Invest 97L impacting Southeast Texas. The storm could bring heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and strong winds to the Greater Houston region starting Tuesday and Wednesday. Jason Fabre, CenterPoint's Vice President of Special Response & Distribution Operations, stated that the company has prepared readiness plans and crews are on standby to address any service disruptions.

The utility is mobilizing personnel to inspect power lines and substation facilities, as well as clearing vegetation that could pose hazards to the power grid. CenterPoint is collaborating with local authorities and emergency management groups on preparedness. The company's meteorology team is monitoring the storm's progress. They are urging customers to sign up for Power Alert Service to receive outage information, estimated restoration times, and updates through various communication channels.
