Carney meets business leaders to discuss U.S. trade, says PM’s office

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Mark Carney has convened a gathering of business leaders from various industries to deliberate on Canada's trade dynamics with the United States. The Prime Minister's Office announced that the meeting encompassed recent advancements in the file and the government's objectives aimed at stimulating economic growth and investment within Canada. Attendees were also encouraged to impart their industry-specific viewpoints.

The statement from the Prime Minister's Office highlighted that 23 companies participated in the discussion, among them RBC, Enbridge, Bell Canada, and Bombardier. Additionally, CN Rail, Suncor, and Nutrien were also identified as participants. The meeting unfolds as Carney has appointed Dominic Barton as chair of Invest in Canada, supplanting the previous CEO, Laurel Broten, who was a former Ontario cabinet minister.
