Bund: Mit Verzögerung: Digitalpakt 2.0 startet zum 1. September

Berlin experienced a delay in the launch of the Digitalpakt 2.0, a digital education initiative for German schools, which began on September 1st. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research only announced the start a day before its scheduled launch. Consequently, all federal states have now signed the administrative agreement, allowing for the distribution of federal funds.

Following the signatures, including those of Federal Education and Family Minister Karin Prien (CDU), the way is clear for schools to apply for funding to expand and modernize their digital education infrastructure. This includes high-performance school networks, Wi-Fi, school servers, digital equipment for classrooms, mobile devices, and digital teaching and learning platforms.

A total of five billion euros is available over the next five years for digital education in general and vocational schools, with each federal state and the federal government covering half the costs. The federal government's contribution of 2.5 billion euros comes from the special fund "Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality." Prien emphasized the importance of cross-state projects in realizing this initiative.
