Barcelona close to deal for Arsenal’s Jesus

Barcelona are on the verge of finalizing a £8.6m (10m euros) deal for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus. The Brazil international is expected to complete the transfer before Tuesday's deadline, with his medical scheduled for Monday. Napoli has previously shown interest in Jesus, but the 29-year-old is set to join Barcelona and is expected to travel for a medical on Monday.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Jesus is not training with the squad ahead of the Premier League match against Aston Villa on Monday, suggesting the move is imminent. This would be Barcelona's third signing from a Premier League club this summer, following Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City. Barcelona's pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, also targeted by Arsenal, appears to have ended as sources claim Atletico is not willing to negotiate with their Spanish rivals.

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is also set to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia for a fee of at least £50m. Jesus' move to Barcelona could help address their injury concerns, as he has faced significant knee issues during his time at Arsenal, including a 10-month layoff from a left knee anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2025.
