Apple has not released a ceramic Apple Watch since 2019's Series 5 model. However, according to a reliable insider, Apple may offer an optional, upgraded ceramic shell for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models this year. There could be two ceramic case choices available for the new devices. The 2026 Apple Watch updates are expected to be minor, with no major design changes anticipated.

Instead, there may be enhancements such as a faster processor and improved heart rate tracking. However, an onboard fingerprint scanner to unlock the Apple Watch does not appear to be on the agenda. One of the most significant aspects of a ceramic case is its durability and scratch resistance compared to stainless steel and aluminum.

For many consumers, the main attraction would be the aesthetic appeal, such as the pearly white and dark grey color options seen in the Series 5 ceramic watch. The price of a ceramic Apple Watch Series 5 launched at $1,299 in 2019, and despite speculation, there hasn't been any confirmation regarding the price of a ceramic Apple Watch Ultra 4.

Nevertheless, if the standard Apple Watch 12 starts at $449, a ceramic version could potentially cost as much as $1,499, according to estimates.
