AP Player of the Week: USC’s Jayden Maiava passed for 286 yards and accounted for 3 TDs

AP named USC quarterback Jayden Maiava as the Week 0 Player of the Week after he completed 25 of 29 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-26 victory over San Jose State. The freshman also rushed for a touchdown and came in tied for No. 2 with Matt Leinart in career yards per attempt at 8.6. Maiava's performance was bolstered by the emergence of freshman receiver Trent Mosley, who caught seven of his passes for 118 yards.

Beau Pribula of Virginia placed second in the voting, rushing for a career-best 110 yards and completing nine of eleven passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in the Cavaliers' 34-8 win over North Carolina State.
