After Batwara 1947 failure, Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi to reunite for Ghatak follow-up

After Batwara 1947 failed to meet expectations, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi and actor Sunny Deol are set to collaborate once more for a follow-up film to their 1996 action thriller Ghatak. Santoshi confirmed that they are working on at least two projects, with the Ghatak Ghus Ke Marega story being one of them. Although this new film does feature a similar character, Santoshi clarified it is not a direct sequel to Ghatak.

The actor expressed his excitement about the upcoming project, highlighting its action, powerful dialogues, and emotional depth. Santoshi, however, maintains his stance against doing sequels, having previously declined the opportunity to direct Jaat 2, a sequel to his 2022 film Jaat. The failure of Batwara 1947, which starred Shabana Azmi and Sunny Deol, led to Azmi questioning the audience's acceptance of Deol as a Muslim character.

Santoshi dismissed this theory, emphasizing that historically, actors from various backgrounds have successfully portrayed characters from different communities.
