A 38-year-old NES platformer is getting a Steam remake by its original husband-and-wife team, as the pair's 'final major game product'

The Battle of Olympus, a side-scrolling platformer first released on the NES in 1988, is set to receive a handcrafted Steam remake by its original husband-and-wife team, Yukio and Reiko Horimoto. Though not actually married, the couple were in a romantic relationship when they developed the game, inspired by Greek myths and legends.

The remake will closely replicate the original game's mechanics, such as the player's attacking, ducking, and jumping motions, which were influenced by The Legend of Zelda 2. Unlike previous game development collaborations, this will be the Horimoto's final major game product, as they plan to retire from game development after releasing the remake early next year.
