5 killed in blast at firecracker unit operating from house in UP village

An explosion at a firecracker factory in Manauri village, situated on the border of Kaushambi and Prayagraj districts in Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to several others on Monday. The factory was reportedly operating from a dwelling located amidst agricultural fields. Local police revealed that the blast was so forceful that it caused damage to four to five nearby houses.

The exact jurisdiction of the site remains unclear and will be determined later. Emergency services, including police and fire department teams, quickly responded to the scene, deploying fire tenders and earthmover machines to control the flames and clear debris for any potential trapped individuals. The explosions continued for an extended period, causing widespread panic in the surrounding villages.

Those injured were transported to hospitals in Prayagraj for medical attention. The precise number of casualties and the full extent of the damage will be determined once the firefighting and rescue operations are concluded.
