Why Tinubu deserves a second term — Ex-South-East lawmaker

Former House of Representatives lawmaker Sam Onuigbo has called on All Progressives Congress members and stakeholders to rally behind President Bola Tinubu for a second term. Onuigbo, president of Globe Legislators International, made the plea during a stakeholders' engagement to launch Tinubu's re-election campaign in his hometown of Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano Local Government Area in Abia State.

Onuigbo argued that the stakes for re-electing Tinubu were higher than ever before, thanks to the "bold and courageous reforms" introduced under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He outlined several achievements of the Tinubu administration, including the removal of the parallel foreign exchange market, ending fuel subsidies, increasing Federation Account Allocation Committee funds, boosting Nigeria's refining capacity, increasing crude oil production, and attracting over $50 billion in foreign direct investment.

Tinubu's commitment to inclusive governance in the South-East was also highlighted, with Onuigbo pointing to the appointment of two service chiefs from the region, the establishment of the South-East Development Commission, and the creation of new tertiary institutions. He praised Tinubu for restoring delisted management courses at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture and for constructing the Federal Secretariat at Ekeoba Ohuhu, a project that has been in the works for 35 years.
