Who Is Pratika Rawal? All You Need To Know About India's T20I Debutant Against Thailand In Women's Asia Cup 2026

In the opening game of Group A at the Women's Asia Cup 2026 held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India emerged victorious over Thailand by an impressive 94 runs. The match saw Deepti Sharma and Nandani Sharma each claim three wickets during the game, while Deepti herself bowled only seven balls to achieve her wickets and keep Thailand's score at a mere 65 runs. The Indian all-rounder made history by becoming the leading wicket-taker in Women's T20Is with her final wicket of the night.

Earlier in the game, India set a target of 160 runs for Thailand, despite starting their innings at 91/1. Nandani picked up three crucial wickets, including India's top scorer Shafali Verma, who scored 64 runs off 36 balls. A run out of Smriti Mandhana and debutant Pratika Rawal saw India's total drop to 101/2 after 10 overs. However, Shafali then delivered a stellar performance, reaching her half-century in just 26 balls, leading India to a comfortable win. Mandhana scored 19 runs off 10 balls before being run out with India at 38 runs.

Thailand won the toss and chose to bat first, but it was not enough to challenge India's formidable batting lineup. The Indian team's T20I form has been less than stellar this year, with nine losses out of 16 T20 games played, including a disappointing early exit from the World Cup in England in June. However, India enters the prestigious tournament as heavy favorites, having won the competition three times out of the five times they have played.
