Mittal, who grew up in humble surroundings, initially aspired for a successful life but felt a sense of incompleteness despite her accomplishments. She credits her education and experience in IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore for building her confidence and strength. Mittal returned to India after completing her MBA from IIM Bangalore, working in London before joining the civil services.

She has not yet clarified the reason for her resignation or confirmed any plans for her future career move, including a potential entry into politics. The state government has not yet received her resignation formally, and appropriate action will be taken once it is received.
