'We are both fighters': Kai Wun-Roy King refuse to get sentimental

KUALA LUMPUR - Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King will set aside sentiment and display their fighting spirit during their final tournament together at the China Masters, set to begin on Tuesday. After the tournament, the pair will go their separate ways, with Kai Wun expected to join forces with former world champion Aaron Chia for the upcoming Asian Games.

Kai Wun-Roy King are the only Bahasa Malaysia pair to secure a World Tour title this year, having claimed victory at the Korea Masters earlier this month. However, Roy King is not considering the China Masters an emotional farewell or a chance to deliver a final parting gift. He stated, "We are both fighters, so I don't think we need to think too much about it."

The pair will arrive in China bolstered by their recent title-winning run in South Korea, with their partnership's progress on court becoming increasingly evident, particularly noticeable in their third tournament. Roy King noted that their court rotation and overall movement have become more polished over time. With only a week left before the China Masters, Roy King's primary focus is to recover and regain his strength.

He expressed confidence in his preparation, stating, "I feel my preparation has been quite good." Roy King remains uncertain about his next partner, mentioning Aaron Tai as a potential option but stressing that nothing has been confirmed. The pair will kick off their China Masters campaign against world No. 10 Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi.
