Ukrainian Strikes Cause Casualties in Belgorod, Authorities Say

On Sunday, Ukrainian forces launched attacks on the Russian city of Belgorod, resulting in casualties, according to regional Governor Alexander Shuvaev. Shuvaev reported several fires following the strikes and confirmed that emergency services had been dispatched to the affected areas. While he did not disclose the number of injured individuals, local Telegram channels stated that at least one missile strike had occurred in Belgorod.

Social media videos showed multiple fires, including one near the city's television tower. The Belgorod thermal power plant was reportedly hit by one of the strikes, leading to a fire, as per local media. Additionally, the country's second-largest retailer, Ozon, announced that its warehouse in Belgorod was targeted, prompting the evacuation of employees and halting operations in the region.

Ukraine intensified its attacks on Ozon warehouses following a month of strikes against facilities belonging to its main competitor, Wildberries, which Ukraine alleges supplies the Russian military with drone parts and other equipment. The Belgorod region, situated along Russia's border with Ukraine, has repeatedly faced Ukrainian drone and missile strikes, leading to casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.

In a separate matter, Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has classified The Moscow Times as an undesirable organization, effectively criminalizing its operations and exposing its staff to potential prosecution.
