Two-year-old boy drowns in dam in Nyandarua village

A two-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into a nearby dam in Nyandarua County, Kenya, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred at his home in North Kinangop when his younger cousin alerted his grandparents after spotting the child struggling in the water. The boy's grandparents swiftly retrieved him and rushed to the Engineer County Hospital for medical assistance, but unfortunately, the youngster could not be saved.

Police and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived at the scene to document the tragedy and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning. The child's body was taken to the hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting an autopsy. The police continue their inquiries into the incident.

Meanwhile, a separate incident saw a three-year-old girl lose her life in Nairobi after being electrocuted while playing on the rooftop of an 18-story building in Eastleigh. The toddler had accidentally stepped on an exposed live electricity cable while on the roof of the Tamam 2 Heights along Jam Street. She was rushed to Bilal Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police and detectives from Eastleigh North Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe rushed to the scene, where they collected evidence and initiated their investigations into the incident. The child's body was transferred to the 7th Street Mosque for preservation pending further examination. Police are now probing the circumstances that led to the exposed live electricity cable being present on the rooftop and whether any safety protocols were compromised.
