Teenage Cardiff midfielder Donczew joins Arsenal

Cardiff City's teenage midfielder Axel Donczew has completed his transfer to Arsenal. The 16-year-old Wales youth international will join the Premier League champions as part of their first-year scholarship intake. Donczew made headlines last October when he became the club's youngest ever senior player, a record that has since been broken by Noah Anyadike.

Despite Cardiff offering him a deal to continue his development, the player chose to pursue a move away from Cardiff. The north London club has signed a pre-contract agreement with Donczew, which will result in him signing professional terms with them. The Cardiff academy product, who is also eligible to play for Poland, made his first-team debut for Cardiff at the age of 15, substituting in an EFL Trophy match against Newport County. He played as a substitute again for Cardiff last December in an EFL Trophy defeat by Wimbledon.
