Taxpayers to Complete NADRA Biometric Verification At Home

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) plans to introduce online biometric verification via its PakID app for individual taxpayers, sole proprietors, and overseas Pakistanis starting the first week of September 2026. This innovative service will enable eligible taxpayers to complete their mandatory biometric verification remotely, eliminating the need to visit a physical verification center.

NADRA asserts that this new functionality will streamline the annual biometric verification process, especially for individuals residing abroad. The authority is collaborating with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to seek formal recognition of PakID biometric verification as an alternative to the existing e-Sahulat-based verification process.

If recognized by the FBR, taxpayers will gain an additional digital option for fulfilling their biometric requirements. This development arises from concerns raised by the Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry regarding the challenges faced by individual taxpayers and sole proprietors in completing annual biometric verification, with overseas Pakistanis facing particular difficulties.

NADRA explains that the new facility will allow eligible users to complete biometric verification from any location worldwide. The initiative aims to simplify taxpayer compliance and align with the government's digitalization and ease-of-doing-business objectives. However, NADRA cautions that the tentative launch in the first week of September is contingent upon formal approval from the FBR to officially recognize PakID as an alternative verification channel.
