Sunil Gavaskar suggests fines for bowlers & coaches after India’s no-ball woes in Colombo

Sunil Gavaskar, a former India captain, has called for stricter penalties against bowlers and coaches after India's no-ball issues in the Colombo Test. Despite winning the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0, India failed to force a win in Colombo due to repeated no-ball errors by their spinners. Ravindra Jadeja and debutant Saransh Jain were responsible for 11 no-balls, contributing to 13 no-balls in total across the four innings.

Gavaskar suggested implementing fines for bowlers and coaches, proposing that the fines be doubled for repeated offenses, with half the amount going to the bowling coach. The collected fines could then be used for a team dinner at the series' end. Gavaskar emphasized that with modern technology and facilities, there should be no excuses for overstepping the bowling crease, especially in Test cricket where the batter and bowler have limited control over the game.
