Struggling Mariners put RHP Emerson Hancock on 15-day IL because of strained left adductor

The Seattle Mariners have placed right-handed pitcher Emerson Hancock on the 15-day injured list, effective from August 29, due to a strained left adductor. The decision came after Hancock's participation in Friday's game against Toronto, where he was impacted during his attempt to tag a Blue Jays outfielder. Despite playing through the discomfort, Hancock allowed eight hits over five innings, including two home runs.

Manager Dan Wilson disclosed that right-hander Bryce Miller, who has struggled with the pitching staff in August, could take over for Hancock in the rotation when his turn arrives on Wednesday against Boston. Additionally, Triple-A Tacoma call-up Nick Davila was recalled from the minors and managed to pitch one inning, allowing three runs, in the Mariners' latest loss, which marked their fourth consecutive defeat.
