Restored democracy, delivered welfare in 1,000 days: Uttam

On the 1,000-day mark of its rule in Telangana, the Congress government, led by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, announced on Sunday a significant milestone. This period, according to Mr. Reddy, has witnessed the restoration of democratic governance and the implementation of welfare and developmental programs. He emphasized that the change in power was not just political but also marked a return to the democratic spirit that the people of Telangana had longed for.

Mr. Reddy accused the previous BRS regime of concentrating power in the hands of a single individual and family, denying the voices of ministers, legislators, public representatives, opposition parties, and ordinary citizens. To bridge the gap between administration and citizens, he stated that the government had engaged with Prajavani, gram sabhas, and direct consultations.

Currently, the government is providing free coarse rice to approximately 3.42 crore beneficiaries, each receiving a six-kilogram allowance. Additionally, new ration cards have been issued to numerous eligible families, with smart ration cards distribution also underway. Despite the BRS's opposition protests against the Congress government, Mr. Reddy reaffirmed that such protests were a testament to the restored democracy in Telangana, allowing the opposition to agitate.

He concluded by asserting that Telangana had moved decisively from family rule to people's governance and pledged to continue its journey with enhanced determination.
