Religious Leaders Warn Against Rising Hate, Call For Global Unity At New York Gathering | VIDEO

New York, August 30: Prominent religious leaders from various faiths convened at the Universal Oneness gathering at Madison Square Garden to address a growing global issue of hatred spreading across borders. This came amidst challenges such as armed conflicts, displacement, prejudice, and disruptive technological advancements. The gathering aimed to promote dialogue, compassion, and a renewed recognition of shared human identity.

Baba Jain, Founding Secretary-General of the World Council of Religious Leaders, delivered a call to action after consulting with over 200 representatives from 30 countries. He emphasized the power of faith to heal and reconcile, while acknowledging instances where religion had been used to divide, exclude, and justify violence. Jain urged religious leaders to scrutinize their own teachings, institutions, and practices.

At the One World One Humanity event, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that anyone doubting the inclusivity of Hinduism would no longer be considered a Hindu. He encouraged adherents to recognize that all paths lead to the same goal. The gathering's success was measured by the actions taken by participants after leaving the venue.

Imam Sharif emphasized that the gathering's impact would be determined by the participants' behavior post-event. He called for the continuation of relationships and the inclusion of young people from diverse backgrounds. Imam Sharif warned that technological progress had not eradicated humanity's core issues, such as hatred, prejudice, arrogance, tribalism, dehumanization, and domination.

Rabbi Blumenthal highlighted the Jewish belief that every individual carries divine essence and immense value. He urged people to recognize that God has faith in humanity, and that addressing loneliness can foster connection, love, and respect for one another. The Raksha Bandhan ceremony symbolized mutual care, protection, and responsibility among participants.
