Ready to receive 9,400 students in new academic year: PUE President

Doha, Qatar — The President of Pre-University Education (PUE) at Qatar Foundation, Abeer Al Khalifa, has confirmed that the institution's schools and centers are fully prepared for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. PUE manages 15 schools and education centers, educating 9,434 students from 56 nationalities, with more than 92% being Qatari students.

This academic year marks the enrollment of 1,197 new students, including those in pre-kindergarten, the Prime Programme at Awsaj Academy, and the Academic Bridge Programme, alongside 833 additional students in regular academic stages. Al Khalifa highlighted that PUE employs 950 teachers and learning leaders from 70 nations, with 1,731 employees holding direct teaching and educational roles.

The preparations for the new academic year encompass four key areas: school planning with performance assessments, policy reviews like the mobile-phone-free campus policy, educational content and facility development including the opening of Qatar Academy Sidra's new building, and operational readiness.

Al Khalifa emphasized the importance of strengthening educational and leadership capabilities, focusing on school leadership, professional development for teaching staff, and aligning professional growth with performance metrics. An event was held to gather around 100 education sector leaders to align their vision and priorities ahead of the academic year's start.

The institution boasts a high level of readiness, based on clear indicators and evidence, ensuring the new academic year begins with defined priorities and success criteria. PUE is also enhancing its institutional measurement framework by developing a third measure for educational outcome quality, aligning with Qatar Foundation's commitment to continuous performance monitoring throughout the year.
