PSA: Nintendo Switch 2 Gets a $50 Price Increase on Tuesday

Nintendo is raising the price of its Switch 2 hybrid console by $50, effective September 1. This means the new MSRP for the device will jump from $450 to $500. Nintendo has not been immune to rising component prices, despite its efforts to keep prices reasonable. Previously, customers could purchase the Switch 2 alone or with a selection of first-party games included in bundles.

However, as the price increase approaches, these bundle options have disappeared from retailers. At present, consumers have two main choices for acquiring a Switch 2: purchasing it new at $500 or opting for a refurbished unit available at a discounted price. The best deal currently available is a "Grade A" refurbished unit from Woot, priced at $399.99, which is $50 less than the new price.

Woot, owned by Amazon, is a reputable retailer with no past issues reported. Nintendo will introduce two new bundles after the price hike. One bundle will include the game Mario Kart World and cost $549.99, while the other will feature Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and be priced at $529.99. Both bundles come with three months of Nintendo Switch Online and provide slight discounts compared to buying the items separately.

However, neither bundle offers more than a $50 saving, making it advisable to purchase the console before the price hike. Chris Reed, a senior commerce editor at IGN, recommends buying the Switch 2 before September 1 to avoid the price increase.
