On August 30, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Uzbekistan's esteemed 'Oliy Darajali Do'stimlik' Order, dedicated to the "enduring" relationship between India and Uzbekistan. This marks the 36th international award received by Modi since 2016. India and Uzbekistan subsequently decided to elevate their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership and aimed to achieve $5 billion in annual trade by 2030, following discussions between Modi and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two nations signed 11 agreements to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including mining and tourism, and agreed to establish a framework for long-term Uranium supply from Uzbekistan to India, aligning with cooperation in the civil nuclear energy sector. Modi stated in his press release that the current volume of bilateral trade between the two countries exceeds $1 billion.
