Patel to be replaced by Tugendhat as shadow foreign secretary

This development occurred just a day after shadow housing secretary Sir James Cleverly announced his resignation to pursue a bid for the London mayor position. The anticipated Conservative reshuffle was also triggered by the upcoming maternity leave of shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho. Although speculation regarding the possible departure of shadow chancellor Mel Stride had been downplayed recently, there remains a possibility that Badenoch might opt to replace him.

Among the Conservative Party members, there exists a belief that Badenoch might choose to appoint Claire Coutinho as the shadow chancellor despite her current absence from the front bench.
