Nepal floods: Bus carrying rescued survivors crashes, 32 injured; death toll nears 800

Nepal's flash floods have caused significant devastation, with the death toll climbing to 788 by Sunday evening. Over 2,500 individuals remain missing in the disaster. According to the country's foreign ministry, 886 people have been successfully rescued thus far. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, as authorities warn of potential further flooding on Sunday.

Residents in affected districts are urged to remain vigilant. Chinese officials alerted Nepalese counterparts about increased water flow upstream, highlighting the severity of the situation. Nepal's foreign ministry prioritizes saving lives, locating missing persons, and providing relief to affected individuals, mobilizing around 19,000 security personnel and 16 helicopters in the process.

Indian agencies have also joined the effort, with a specialized tunnel rescue team working alongside the Nepali Army to conduct joint search and rescue operations in critical hydropower tunnel sites. Indian nationals who have been rescued number 149, while 598 have fled to Nepal from China over the past two days. India continues to provide aid, sending four flights carrying relief material to Nepal, including tunnel technical contingents, forensic experts, and essential supplies.
