NEET-PG 2026 conducted smoothly; retest on Sept 5 for Jaipur candidates hit by glitch

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has concluded the NEET-PG 2026 examination across the country on Sunday, with nearly 2.7 lakh candidates taking the test at 1,111 centers in 339 cities. However, a retest will be held on September 5 for 2,445 candidates in Jaipur due to a technical glitch that disrupted the examination.

NBEMS president Dr Abhijat Sheth assured that there were no issues of paper leaks or hacking, and the examination was conducted fairly and transparently. A three-member committee will investigate the power failure incident at the Jaipur centers, comprising a senior Rajasthan government official, a joint secretary-level officer from the health ministry, and a central electricity authority chief engineer.

The nationwide examination was supported by extensive security measures, including around 2,527 independent appraisers and over 700 flying squad members deployed by NBEMS. Additionally, sixteen regional command centers were operational across the country, and examination centers were under constant CCTV surveillance from the NBEMS headquarters.

Real-time monitoring was carried out by a dedicated team of 190 NBEMS and TCS personnel, with continuous oversight from central command centers. Aadhaar-based authentication was also implemented to prevent impersonation during the examination.
