NEET-PG 2026: 2,445 Candidates In Jaipur To Retake Exam After Power Glitch

TCS iON has expressed "deep regret" over the power failure experienced by the NEET-PG examination at a center in Jaipur, while emphasizing that they are working swiftly to resolve the issue. In an official statement on their X handle, TCS iON acknowledged that similar power failures had occurred at the same exam center during previous exams, including the AIIMS CRE test.

The disruptions were attributed to "unknown local electrical issues." Two iON Digital Zone centers in Jaipur were affected by the power outages on Sunday, August 30, with the National Board of Examinations in Medicine and Surgery (NBEMS) subsequently scheduling a retest for September 5. NBEMS has also convened an urgent meeting to decide on penalties for the technological partner and the agency responsible for maintaining adequate infrastructure at the exam centers, according to officials.

Venguswamy Ramaswamy, head of TCS iON, stated that the company is taking every possible measure to prevent such incidents in the future. The NEET-PG 2026 and AIIMS CRE exams were conducted successfully for over 2.63 lakh and 21,000 candidates, respectively, across multiple centers nationwide. The TCS unit noted that the power failures were limited to a single center, the iDZ Sitapura center in Jaipur, which faced internal power disruptions on both days due to the same unknown electrical issues.

TCS iON is collaborating with expert vendor teams to rectify the situation as urgently as possible and deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to candidates during the NEET-PG and AIIMS CRE exams at these centers. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has also established a three-member committee, under the chairpersonship of Gayatri Rathore, to investigate the circumstances leading to the power supply failure and determine the reasons for the disruption.

The committee comprises a senior official from the Rajasthan government, a joint secretary-level officer from the Health Ministry, and a senior engineering official from the Central Electricity Authority.
