NDC names Ogbonnia leader of party in Enugu

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Enugu State has appointed Nigerian-American businessman Dr. SKC Ogbonnia as the new leader of the party in the region. Dr. Ogbonnia was revealed as the party leader following a statewide executive meeting in Enugu on Saturday. Dr. Sebastine Chukwuebuka Okafor, the party's secretary, announced the decision in a statement to journalists, citing Ogbonnia's contributions to the party's growth and his role in securing the presidential candidate's victory, Peter Obi.

The new leadership arrangement is anticipated to enhance coordination among party members and provide clear direction as the NDC prepares for future political engagements. Dr. Okafor emphasized that with Ogbonnia's diverse background in business, academia, and public affairs, the party will benefit from a wealth of experience, which he believes will significantly contribute to the party's development in Enugu State.

The secretary called upon party members and supporters to rally behind the new leadership and adhere to the party's goals. Dr. Johnpaul Anih, the state chairman, praised the national leadership for their efforts in unifying the party nationwide, especially in Enugu, and assured that the state leadership would continue to bolster the party's structures and mobilize support for the party's mission to offer a robust political alternative to the people of Enugu State and Nigeria.
