Murkomen tells opposition to stop interfering with IEBC and instead sell their policies

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen addressed the Opposition, urging them to refrain from interfering with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He emphasized that political leaders must respect the IEBC's independence, stating, “You see someone talking about the IEBC. He wants to be the contractor, candidate, and referee at the same time.”

Murkomen expressed concern over the Opposition’s apparent lack of clear ideas, policies, and an agenda, questioning why young politicians were campaigning without a manifesto. He noted that Opposition leaders were lacking in ideas and policies, calling it the worst he had seen. Defending President Ruto’s development record, Murkomen stated that it is the best in Kenya's history, and challenged the Opposition to compete based on ideas, policies, and development track record instead of challenging the President.

At the event in Uasin Gishu County, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki echoed Murkomen’s sentiments, calling on Opposition leaders to present a clear manifesto and compete with the Government on merit.
