Mobile phones contributing to Christians’ spiritual decline – Bishop Patu

Bishop Zadock Mawulede Patu, the founder and leader of the Church of Power Ministry, has identified mobile phones as a contributing factor to the spiritual decline of some Christians. During a four-day Youth Convention in Ada East District, Ghana, Patu argued that Christians' increasing reliance on Bible applications on their phones was diminishing their interest in physical copies of the Holy Bible.

He questioned the effectiveness of using smartphones for Bible reading and accessing distracting apps simultaneously, particularly when it comes to concentrating during prayers and church services.

Patu encouraged Christians, especially the youth, to obtain physical copies of the Bible to maintain focus during religious activities. He emphasized that young people play a crucial role in shaping their future based on their choices and lifestyles. The bishop cautioned young people against negative influences such as inappropriate dressing, abusive language, drug abuse, excessive partying, and detrimental lifestyles that could harm their health and future.

Additionally, Patu stressed the importance of proper character and behavior among young women, advocating for modesty and discipline. He identified virtues like truthfulness, fasting, prayer, humility, and discipline as essential qualities that could help young people succeed in their pursuits. Drawing from Proverbs 3:1-5, Patu warned that those who disregard good counsel often blame others for their shortcomings.

He urged Christians, especially the youth, to lead exemplary lives that inspire others and contribute positively to society.
