Missing trekker’s son remains calm while awaiting news of father

On August 26, three Malaysian trekkers—Muhaimin Azhad Noor Hadi, Adib Haikal Awang Mansor, and Zaki Othman—were reported missing after their trekking expedition in the Langtang Valley of Nepal turned tragic. Their friends and family members are anxiously awaiting news of their whereabouts. Firas Shabuddin, 24, a Malaysian engineer and son of missing trekkers' coordinator Shabuddin Mun, expressed his determination to remain rational during this difficult time.

He emphasized the importance of allowing authorities to handle the rescue efforts and advised against allowing emotions to interfere with the situation. The Malaysian government has been actively coordinating with relevant authorities to provide updates and ensure families receive accurate information. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman advised against family members traveling to Nepal due to the challenging access to the incident site.

Ashraf Padzil, 33, whose father Padzil Darus was also part of the Team Loe trekking group, shared that he last heard from his father about an hour before the tragedy, when he sent a photograph of the expedition site. The families of the three missing trekkers remain hopeful, and a friend of the climbers conveyed that the last message from the group was received at 10:42am Malaysia time on August 26, with their last known location around the Bhote Koshi area.
