Larkin, Felder power Tigers to historic 3-0 start in Mizzou Invitational sweep

Middle blocker Lauren Larkin and outside hitter Paige Felder led Missouri to a perfect start at the Mizzou Invitational, sweeping Idaho 3-0 in three consecutive victories on Saturday night. The Tigers dominated Idaho 25-18, 25-21, 25-12, marking the first time since 2011 that Missouri has won the first nine sets of a season. Coach Dawn Sullivan expressed pride in her team's tight-knit family dynamic, especially considering her daughter Sarah Sullivan was opposing team Idaho's senior outside hitter.

Larkin's game-high 10 kills and flawless hitting percentage of .625 showcased her authority at the net, while Felder provided relentless force on the pins, contributing to Mizzou's overwhelming advantage early. In the second set, Mizzou adapted tactically by replacing their starters, with senior setter Sierra Dudley and fifth-year senior Grace O’Reilly stepping in to steady the floor.

The adjustments proved effective, as Mizzou held onto a 22-20 lead and ultimately secured the set with a set-ending block. Freshman Maizy Agnello sparked the third set with heavy swinging, and senior libero Ainoah Cruz's 11 digs solidified the defense. With a perfect opening weekend, Missouri is now set to face No. 25 Oregon in their first major test of the season.
